AAAHYA is able to help people in severe financial difficulties through administration of the following financial aid programs:

- Energy Accounts Payment Assistance (EAPA)

Energy Accounts Payment Assistance (EAPA) vouchers can help if you are having difficulty paying your electricity or gas bill. The $30 EAPA vouchers are distributed to electricity and gas customers by a range of community welfare organisations including AAHYA.

The scheme is funded by the NSW Government through the Department of Water and Energy. Anyone who is in financial hardship can apply for EAPA voucher assistance. This may be caused by:

  • a loss of income
  • a very high electricity / gas bill
  • an illness in the family
  • a family crisis
  • unexpected expenses or bills

- Telstra Bill Assistance (TBA)

AAHYA distributes TBA certificates on behalf of Smith Family. Only Concession Card Holders are elegible for this assistance. It is a similar program to EAPA aiming to assist people in severe financial difficulties.

- Sydney Water Payment Assistance Scheme

If you are having difficulty paying your water bill, you may apply for payment assistance vouchers. Sydney Water works with many community agencies including AAHYA, to make these vouchers available to customers experiencing hardship.

PAS vouchers are available to customers who own and occupy their home or private tenants who are responsible for paying for their water use.

Please note, you will need to contact us to make an appointment and you need to bring documents that show your financial difficulties eg. bills. We also need a welfare referral from Centrelink wherever possible.

In addition to direct financial assistance, AAHYA volunteers may provide referrals to other organisations and services and may even be able to take you there themselves.
